A nine-year-old Class 3 student died after collapsing inside her classroom at a school in Mayur Vihar, east Delhi, on Wednesday morning.
The police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in connection with the death and examined the CCTV footage to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
The incident occurred around 9.20 a.m., when the girl returned to her classroom after a sports period and collapsed while standing in front of her class teacher, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District) Rajeev Kumar said.
According to the police, a Police Control Room (PCR) call reporting the incident was received around 9.52 a.m.
The school authorities rushed her to Vimla Devi Hospital and subsequently shifted her to Malik Radix Health Care in Nirman Vihar, where she was declared brought dead.
The CCTV footage showed the girl attempting to approach her class teacher before suddenly collapsing.
The teacher immediately rushed to her aid and tried to make her sit on a chair, while other students gathered around her.
Some of her classmates rushed out to alert the school authorities.
The victim’s family alleged that she was not given timely medical attention or CPR.
The police, however, clarified that CCTV footage showed the teacher attending to her immediately.
School principal Dr.
